After a long bike ride through the woods (the kind that makes you forget you're still in Berlin), we finally arrived at the beautiful Schmetterlingshorst — a hidden gem of an association nestled in nature, right on the edge of a lake in Köpenick. They had invited us to take part in their summer celebration with a creative activity for families, and we were more than excited to join!

All around us, other groups and associations were showing off their projects, from wood carving to giant insect sculptures made with recycled materials. A small local brass band played live music, and the vibe was super relaxed and full of curious, happy people.
We set up our little printing station under the trees, laying out linoleum blocks we had pre-carved with botanical shapes like flowers and leaves. It didn’t take long for kids, parents, and passersby to stop by, get their hands messy, and create their very own colourful prints to take home.
It was such a lovely day, surrounded by nature, far from the city buzz, with time to slow down, chat, and share thoughts about how we move through and care for public space. Bringing a bit of Zuhause into this non-urban but still very public setting felt refreshing and inspiring. It made us want to explore these kinds of spaces more often.
