A Week Full of Discoveries

The children visited two museums—the planetarium and the natural history museum—explored plants, and used them to create their own story. At the planetarium, they chose Mars.

On this Mars, plants and rocks gradually begin to transform into creatures that live there. As the film takes shape piece by piece, a unique visual world grows alongside it: Real plants are projected large onto the wall; their shapes are traced with coloured chalk, coloured in, altered, and imaginatively expanded.

This immediate, sensory creative process is particularly valuable, especially in contrast to the digital, high-tech world of the film: The children experience with their own hands how a plant, a shape, or a line transforms into a figure that will later become part of the film. Analog and digital design intertwine in this process.

And suddenly, everything becomes very quiet and still. Everyone is focused and completely absorbed in what they’re doing.

A wonderful week is coming to an end. It will continue in October—and the film will continue to grow as well.
