Repair, Learn, Share: Our Repair Café at Trial & Error

Since the beginning of this year, we’ve been working in collaboration with Kulturlabor Trial & Error e.V., a multicultural collective based in Berlin, active in the fields of art, environmental awareness, education, and community building. Trial & Error fully shares our values: a focus on reuse and recycling, accessibility, and creativity as tools to build a more sustainable future.

Every second Wednesday of the month, we host our Repair Café at their space – a regular meeting dedicated to upcycling, sewing repairs, and knowledge sharing, always accompanied by a communal dinner.

These gatherings are not just about fixing a button or patching a hole, the true aim is to create community through the act of repairing. Sitting around a table, learning a new technique, sharing ideas or stories, sewing while chatting – each Wednesday becomes an informal yet deeply meaningful space where skills are exchanged freely, and no one is left behind.

Our collaboration with Trial & Error has been enriching from the start. We share a common vision: resisting the fast fashion industry not only by extending the life of our clothes, but also by spreading practical, accessible alternatives that empower everyone to take part in change.

The Repair Café is open to anyone – with or without experience – and brings with it, every time, the joy of discovering that with a bit of patience and a helping hand, even an old sweater can have a second life.

Reparieren, Lernen, Teilen: Unser Repair Café bei Trial & Error

Seit Anfang dieses Jahres arbeiten wir mit dem Kulturlabor Trial & Error e.V. zusammen – ein multikulturelles Kollektiv, das in den Bereichen Kunst, Umweltbewusstsein, Bildung und Gemeinschaftsarbeit aktiv ist. Trial & Error teilt unsere Werte: den Fokus auf Wiederverwendung und Recycling, auf Zugänglichkeit und auf Kreativität als Werkzeug für eine nachhaltigere Zukunft.

An jedem zweiten Mittwoch im Monat veranstalten wir in ihren Räumen unser Repair Café – ein regelmäßiges Treffen rund um Upcycling, Nähreparaturen und Wissensaustausch, begleitet von einem gemeinsamen Abendessen.

Doch bei diesen Treffen geht es nicht nur darum, einen Knopf anzunähen oder ein Loch zu stopfen. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Idee, durch das Reparieren eine Gemeinschaft zu schaffen. Gemeinsam an einem Tisch sitzen, neue Techniken lernen, Ideen und Geschichten austauschen, nebenbei nähen und plaudern – jeden Mittwoch entsteht ein informeller, aber bedeutungsvoller Raum, in dem Wissen offen geteilt wird und niemand außen vor bleibt.

Die Zusammenarbeit mit Trial & Error ist von Anfang an inspirierend und bereichernd. Uns verbindet eine gemeinsame Vision: dem Fast Fashion-System etwas entgegenzusetzen – nicht nur, indem wir Kleidern ein zweites oder drittes Leben schenken, sondern auch, indem wir nachhaltige und praktische Alternativen fördern, die für alle zugänglich sind.

Das Repair Café ist offen für alle – mit oder ohne Vorkenntnisse – und bringt jedes Mal die Freude mit sich, zu entdecken, dass mit etwas Geduld und einer helfenden Hand auch ein alter Pullover wieder lebendig werden kann.

Riparare, imparare, condividere: il nostro Repair Caffè da Trial & Error

Dall'inizio di quest'anno abbiamo avviato una nuova collaborazione con Kulturlabor Trial & Error e.V., un collettivo multiculturale, attivo in ambito artistico, ambientale, educativo e comunitario. Trial & Error condivide pienamente i nostri valori: attenzione al riuso e al riciclo, accessibilità delle pratiche, inclusione e creatività come strumenti per immaginare un futuro più sostenibile.

Proprio all'interno dei loro spazi, ogni secondo mercoledì del mese, organizziamo il nostro Repair Caffè: un appuntamento fisso dedicato allo scambio di saperi legati all’upcycling e alla riparazione sartoriale, accompagnato da una cena sociale.

Ma questi incontri non sono pensati solo per aggiustare un bottone o rammendare un buco. Il loro vero valore sta nel creare comunità intorno al gesto del riparare. Sedersi insieme a un tavolo, imparare una nuova tecnica, raccontarsi un’idea o una storia, cucire mentre si chiacchiera: ogni mercoledì nasce uno spazio informale ma profondamente significativo, dove le competenze si trasmettono orizzontalmente e senza giudizio.

La collaborazione con Trial & Error si è rivelata da subito ricca di stimoli e piena di potenzialità. La nostra visione comune è quella di contrastare l’impatto dell’industria del fast fashion non solo allungando la vita dei capi che già abbiamo, ma anche diffondendo pratiche accessibili e sostenibili che permettano a tutte e tutti di diventare parte attiva del cambiamento.

Il Repair Caffè è aperto a chiunque voglia partecipare – con o senza esperienza – e porta con sé ogni volta l’entusiasmo di chi scopre che, con un po’ di pazienza e una mano amica, anche un vecchio maglione può tornare a nuova vita.
